DARKSIDE AT THE NATIONAL SPACE CENTRE
OK pop-pickers, time for a quick update from Darkside H.Q. We are currently on our summer break but rehearsing continues. I always look forward to this time of year as we get time to work on new stuff. This summer’s project is a version of Pigs on the Wing that will include a full band section in the middle. Some people are of the opinion that you should do faithful copies of the original and while we understand this, we were lucky enough to have seen ‘The Floyd’ several times, going back to 1974. If you weren’t fortunate or old enough to have seen them back then, a brief trawl through YouTube will demonstrate that there are numerous different versions that Floyd played back then. It was, after all, the age of rock improvisation. I have added a couple of links to some of my personal favourites below:
There are many more but I will save them for future posts…
A SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS / ECLIPSE AT THE NATIONAL SPACE CENTRE
In the meantime, I will be working with Ross Wearing, our sound engineer and demon plug-in pilot, on our mystery missing Floyd track and hope to have a first version ready for comment and inclusion in next week’s blog. Your feedback will be very welcome as it will be very much a ‘work in progress’.
As promised in the last blog, here is a further teaser from the National Space Centre. Personally, the ‘Saucerful’ section makes the hairs on my arms stand on end and I am immensely proud of what we achieved in collaboration with the lovely team at the NSC.
Just for a bit of fun, here is a close-up of something Floydian. If you think you know what it is, please email us here https://www.darksidefloydshow.com/contact-2 with the subject ‘Nurtz yer palms’ together with your answer and contact info. There is a bottle of Champagne for the first correct answer.
