THE THEATRE SEVERN – WISH YOU WERE THERE?

CARISS AUBURN - THE GREAT GIG IN THE SKY

PHOTO: Ross Wareing

It’s been a busy couple of weeks since the fabulous show at the Severn Theatre in Shrewsbury. New gigs have been coming in, including a festival for next summer (more information to follow) and a first-time outing to St Peters, Sudbury. Next year’s Shrewsbury show has also been confirmed. We are now booking for 2021, so it seems the Darkside behemoth will be rolling for some years to come – I’m sure the gear gets heavier every year!

As a result of our collaborations with the National Space Centre earlier in the year, we now have a rather unique version of The Dark Side of the Moon and the audience at Shrewsbury were treated to this. It is always a little nerve-wracking to ‘modify’ such an iconic piece of music but I am pleased to say that the audience were delighted and very complimentary. I won’t go into details as it will spoil the surprise for those going to future shows and especially those coming to the Gatehouse Theatre in Stafford this weekend.

Those of you that pride yourselves on being Floyd aficionados will be aware that when Animals was played live on the ’77 tour, Floyd performed an extended version of Pigs on the Wing featuring Snowy White on guitar. We have worked this up into a Darkside version and are looking forward to playing it live, possibly at our Morecambe show at the Platform on

26th October.

Along side all of this, we are still investigating how to get our recording of the non-existing Seabirds track published and out for distribution once we have (hopefully) gained the required permissions. We had a ball recording it at the famous Rockfield Studios and Ross Wearing, our sound engineer and owner of Regent Studios has done a great job of engineering and producing our version. We can’t wait to share it with you all.
