FROM THE PLATFORM AT MORECAMBE TO THE ERIC MORECAMBE HALL IN HARPENDEN
THE PLATFORM - MORECAMBE

It’s been a busy few weeks at Darkside Towers and we are very much looking forward to our performance at the Harpenden Public Halls next week in the Eric Morecambe Hall. This follows hot on the heels of our sell-out show at the Platform in Morecambe.
We will be showcasing our unique version of The Dark Side of the Moon as well as other favourites. The Public Halls are managed by Glenn Povey, well known and respected author of all things Floydian (The Treasures of Pink Floyd and Echoes: The Complete History of Pink Floyd to name but two). We have worked with Glenn before and it is a real honour to be chosen by him from the large number of tributes in the UK to play on his home turf.

Work continues with our recording of a little-known Floyd track and we are working in conjunction with Revolver Records to obtain the required permissions prior to its release. Hopefully this will be in time for next year’s tour “With Friends Surrounded”.
Always wishing to push the envelope with our live performances for our audiences, we are currently experimenting with a quadrophonic PA, led by our brilliant sound engineer, Ross Wareing of Regent Studios. With luck, we should also be revealing this in 2020. It also gives him an excuse to buy more gadgets and gizmos, not that he usually needs an excuse!
2020 is a big year for us in Darkside. Little did we imagine back in 2005 that we would still be touring and have had the privilege of performing with Durga McBroom, recording at the world-famous Rockfield Studios and collaborating with the National Space Centre for the 50th anniversary of the lunar landings shows. Stevie G’s drum riser is now as big as the first stage we played on! Fifteen years on and the show just gets bigger and better. Everyone in the band remains completely committed to the project and the recent addition of the merchandise stand has been a great success. If you have any good ideas for merch that you think would be good, do please drop us a note.
I will hand the next blog over to Ross and he can give you a whistle-stop tour of what it is like to work in the front of house technical area in one of our shows. It should be good, although I probably should have asked him first!
